– February 21, Dr. Tapio Kanninen, President, Global Crisis Information Network (GCINET) had a presentation at a peace seminar in Columbia University about the peace plan for Ukraine that he and Prof Heikki Patomaki had published in Le Monde Diplomatique in January.

2022

– September 23, Global Crisis Information Network Inc. and Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability (FOGGS) organized a day-long event entitled “Global Governance: Breaking Down or Breaking New Ground?” The event took place at Scandinavia House in New York City, USA.

The event was held in 2 parts, Part 1 was titled STRENGTHENING THE GLOBAL GOVERNANCE ARCHITECTURE TO EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS EXISTENTIAL THREATS TO HUMAN SECURITY and the speakers included Dr. Harris Gleckman, Senior Fellow, Center on Governance and Sustainability, University of Massachusetts, Boston/Board Member, FOGGS, Dr. Richard Ponzio, Senior Fellow and Director, Global Governance, Justice & Security Program, Stimson Center/Board Member, Academia Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS), Dr. Vesselin Popovski, Professor & Vice Dean/Executive Director, Centre for the Study of United Nations, Jindal Global University, Dr. Maria João Rodrigues, President, Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS). This session was moderated by Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa, Member, Global Women Leaders (GWL) Voices for Change and Inclusion, President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Former Foreign and Defense Minister of Ecuador.

The second part was titled THE RUSSIAUKRAINE WAR AND WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT and the speakers included Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, Professor, and Director, Center for Sustainable Development, Columbia University, Dr. Georgios Kostakos, Executive Director, FOGGS, Dr. Gary Slutkin, MD, Founder and CEO, Cure Violence/Former Chief, Intervention, World Health Organization (WHO), and Ms. Felicity Gray, Ukraine Director, Nonviolent Peaceforce. This session was moderated by Dr. Tapio Kanninen President, Global Crisis Information Network (GCINET) and former UN staff member.

2018

– September 21, Global Crisis Information Network Inc. and Sustainable Sport International Inc. organized “Sport and Climate Change Summit” at the Scandinavia House in New York City. The speakers included senior representatives from New York Yankees, New York Mets, NASCAR, Major League Soccer and US Tennis/US Open as well as hockey legends Viacheslav Fetisov and Mike Richter. 2017

– September 21, Global Crisis Information Network Inc. and Sustainable Westchester Inc. organized the “Zero Emissions Summit” at the Scandinavia House in New York City. The speakers included the President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Martin Chungong, Secretary General, Inter-Parliamentary Union and Bill Peduto, Mayor of Pittsburgh. – May 17 to 21, Global Crisis Information Network Inc. took part in the 7th Annual Long Island City Open Art Festival with program called ‘Global Awareness’ including artists who are commenting on man’s relationship with our planet. Author’s talk at the gallery was given by Dr Tapio Kanninen on the Crisis of Global Sustainability.

2016

– September 27 to October 27, the Global Crisis Information Network Inc. sponsored “Creative Climate Awards” exhibition at the 42nd Street in Manhattan in New York City. The President of the GCINET, Dr Tapio Kanninen, spoke at the closing event. More information and pictures can be found here.

– July 13 to August 3, Global Crisis Information Network Inc. sponsored and curated an exhibition “Nature, Climate, Art; the impact of climate change on our lives and environment” at the Bronx Art Space, 305 E 140th Street, New York. President of GCINET Dr Kanninen spoke about global sustainability at the closing of the exhibition. More information and pictures can be found here.

2015

– September 21, the Global Information Network Inc. organized the “talk and art” event “Sibelius, Nature and Climate Change” at Saint Peter’s Church in New York City. The announcement of the event is here with the program, speakers and performers.

– August 20, “Art and Climate” event was organized by the Global Crisis Information Network Inc. and Stormwarning Association Inc. at Espa Park in Helsinki, Finland during the Helsinki Art Festival. At the same time the Citizens Climate Pledge, developed by the organizers and Climate Leadership Council Inc, was presented to the public for the first time in the event. 2014

– June 10, then Global Crisis Information Network Inc. organized an innovative climate change “Talk and Art” event “Climate Change Catastrophe” at the Scandinavia House in New York on urgent action on global climate crisis with art, music and performance. The reception was hosted by the Consulate General of Finland. The announcement, the program and speakers can be found here.

2013

– April 18, at the UN Church Center in Manhattan, Global Crisis Information Network Inc., with the Temple of Understanding and the Interfaith Consortium for Global Survivability, organized a talk and discussion on “The Need for Drastic Environmental Action“. See here.
